Lake Geneva’s County Highway H work expected to continue through late August
Repair and resurfacing work on County Highway H, also known as Williams Street, remains underway in Lake Geneva and is expected to reach substantial completion in late August 2026. The project affects approximately 0.6 miles of roadway between George Street and East Geneva Square.
Residents, commuters, visitors and businesses that use Williams Street should expect continuing construction activity, traffic disruptions and possible delays while the work continues. The project is taking place on a city roadway and a principal local travel route.
Work began earlier this year
Walworth County announced on June 3, 2026, that roadway repair and resurfacing had begun on County Highway H in the City of Lake Geneva. The county identified the project limits as the stretch between George Street and East Geneva Square.
The City of Lake Geneva had separately posted a construction notice dated May 1, 2026. That notice described approximately 0.6 miles of County Highway H and Williams Street work beginning at George Street and continuing northbound to East Geneva Square.
The two government notices identify the same late-August completion window. The county said the project was expected to continue through late August, while the city said construction was expected to be substantially completed by that point.
What travelers and businesses should know
People traveling along Williams Street may encounter ongoing construction activity and interruptions through the expected completion window. The available notices support the possibility of traffic disruptions and delays, but they do not state how long any delay may last.
The work can affect more than drivers passing through the corridor. Residents who use Williams Street for local trips, commuters traveling between destinations in Lake Geneva, visitors heading toward East Geneva Square and businesses along or near the route all share the affected roadway. The source notices, however, do not document specific business losses or other financial effects.
The approved information also does not provide a current lane-by-lane traffic-control schedule, specific closure information or a detour plan. Travelers should therefore treat conditions as subject to change rather than relying on a particular lane or closure timetable.
Next project milestone
Construction was still ongoing as of Aug. 6, 2026. The next known milestone is substantial completion in late August 2026, but the notices do not give a precise final completion date.
That target is an expectation, not confirmation that all work will end on a particular day. Until the project reaches substantial completion, users of the George Street-to-East Geneva Square corridor should allow for continuing construction activity and possible travel interruptions.
