Library Programs, Arts Events and Community Meetings Lead Yonkers Weekend
Yonkers, NY – March 22, 2026 – From packed library programs to arts showcases and community meetings, Yonkers stayed busy this weekend.
Yonkers wrapped up a lively weekend filled with community programs, arts events and public gatherings across the city.
Full Weekend at Yonkers Public Library
The Yonkers Public Library system hosted a wide slate of programs on Saturday, March 21, drawing families, teens and adults to its Riverfront, Crestwood and Will branches.
Highlights included Science Plus Storytime for young children, a hands-on Wild Facts About Wild Mushrooms workshop focused on ecology, and a Sensory Storytime designed for children with special needs. The Riverfront Library also held its Yonkers Writing Group session and a financial literacy workshop centered on building long-term wealth.
Library officials continue to emphasize free, open-to-the-public programming as a cornerstone of neighborhood engagement.
Board of Trustees Meeting Held
Earlier in the week, the Yonkers Public Library Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 19, at the Will Library. Trustees reviewed ongoing programming, operations and upcoming initiatives as the system moves deeper into its spring calendar.
Public board meetings remain open to residents, offering a window into decisions shaping library services citywide.
Spring Arts and Cultural Events Continue
Local arts programming is also in full swing this March. Yonkers Arts continues preparations for its winter exhibition season, while citywide cultural listings show workshops, walking tours and seasonal showcases drawing steady participation.
Community calendars indicate strong turnout for recent history lectures and neighborhood-based events, signaling an active early spring for residents eager to reconnect after winter weather disruptions earlier this year.
With schools, arts groups and public institutions maintaining a packed March schedule, Yonkers heads into the final week of the month with momentum across education, culture and civic life.
