Livonia Gas Prices Show a 42-Cent Spread as Diesel Rises
Metro Detroit regular gasoline and diesel both cost more than they did one week earlier, according to the latest AAA Michigan fuel-price check.
As of Aug. 2, the Metro Detroit average was $4.339 per gallon for regular gasoline, up 12 cents from $4.219 a week earlier. Diesel averaged $5.498, an increase of 19.2 cents from the prior weekโs $5.306 average.
Those are regional averages, not the price at every Livonia station. Current station listings show why drivers may want to compare pumps before filling up.
Livonia regular-gas prices vary by station
The Costco fuel listing at 13700 Middlebelt Road showed regular gasoline at $3.979 per gallon. The listing said the price was updated by community members and warned that the actual pump price may vary.
The Speedway at 37416 7 Mile Road listed regular gasoline at $4.399 per gallon. That is a 42-cent difference between the two cited Livonia listings, or $8.40 on a 20-gallon fill-up before any membership, loyalty or payment discounts.
A second Speedway listing at 33405 Plymouth Road showed regular gasoline at $4.299 per gallon. The operator pages state that gas prices are updated within 24 hours, so prices can change between an online check and a visit to the pump.
Diesel remains close to $5.50
Diesel was listed at $5.499 per gallon at both cited Speedway locations. The current listings do not establish a broader Livonia diesel average or a citywide diesel price range.
That level matters beyond individual motorists. Contractors, delivery drivers, landscapers, service companies and other diesel-dependent operators may face higher costs when vehicles are fueled repeatedly. Those expenses can affect household service calls, deliveries, restaurant supply runs and other local business operations, although the station listings do not show how any individual business is responding.
What Livonia drivers should watch
For commuters and households, the current comparison suggests that station choice can make a noticeable difference, especially for larger tanks or multiple vehicles. Weekend travelers should check prices shortly before leaving because listings are snapshots and pump prices can move during the day.
AAAโs Metro Detroit data shows the broader direction: both regular gas and diesel are higher than last week. Local station listings show that the price a Livonia driver actually pays can still vary significantly by location.
