MaineDOT schedules Aug. 12 Windham meeting on Route 302 and connector-road plans
MaineDOT has scheduled a final in-person public meeting for Aug. 12, 2026, on current design plans for construction along Route 302 and three connector roads in Windham. The meeting will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at Windham High School, 406 Gray Road.
The project, identified by MaineDOT as WIN 026662.00, would affect a major Windham transportation corridor. The plans include changes to intersections, roadway pavement, sidewalks and multiuse paths, which could alter traffic patterns, pedestrian access and travel times.
What the plans cover
The Route 302 portion begins at River Road and extends north to White’s Bridge Road. MaineDOT’s plans call for upgrades to signalized intersections, raised islands and roadway pavement work along the project area.
The design also includes three connector roads. The East Connector Road, also called the New Veteran’s Memorial Drive, would extend to Route 115 off Franklin Drive. A Middle Connector Road is planned from Route 302 at Franklin Drive to Landing Road. A West side connector road is planned from Manchester Drive to White’s Bridge Road.
Sidewalks and multiuse paths are included within the project area. Those elements could be important for people walking, biking or otherwise moving through the Route 302 corridor, while the intersection and roadway work could affect drivers who use the route for local trips and longer commutes.
Meeting is a chance to review the design
The Aug. 12 gathering is the clearest near-term opportunity for Windham residents and other people who use the corridor to review the current design and raise concerns before later project steps. The Maine Department of Transportation describes it as the final in-person public meeting, but that designation does not mean the project has received final approval.
The notice describes current design plans rather than a construction schedule. It does not state when construction would begin, how much the project would cost, how long construction would last or what final right-of-way impacts could occur. It also does not establish final approval or funding.
The Town of Windham’s April 22, 2026, agenda includes a reference to a MaineDOT public meeting notice concerning rotary safety improvements, providing a municipal record of active transportation planning in Windham.
For now, the next known step is the Aug. 12 public meeting at Windham High School. Any later construction timing, cost and right-of-way details remain unspecified in the approved notice.
