Marathon Weekend Draws Crowds Downtown

The Bakersfield Marathon and Half Marathon returned this weekend, bringing runners and spectators to the Kern County Museum grounds and surrounding streets. Saturday featured a Health and Wellness Expo, while Sunday’s races wrapped up with a lively finish line festival.

Vendors, nonprofit groups and food booths filled the museum campus as families gathered to cheer on participants. Organizers say the annual event continues to grow, giving a boost to local businesses and spotlighting the city’s active community.

Wildflower Festival Blooms at Wind Wolves

Southwest of town, Wind Wolves Preserve hosted its Spring Nature Fest on Saturday and Sunday. The free event invited visitors to explore guided wildflower hikes, hands-on nature activities and wide-open views of the San Emigdio Mountains.

With recent seasonal blooms drawing photographers and families alike, the preserve once again became a weekend destination for those looking to trade city noise for fresh air and open space.

Three Days of Live Music at The Empty Space

Meanwhile, The Empty Space Theater wrapped up its three-day 3 Days in Space music festival Sunday night. The all-ages event featured a mix of local and visiting bands, with performances spread across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

From indie rock to experimental sounds, the festival highlighted Bakersfield’s growing live music scene and gave regional artists a chance to connect with new audiences.
