Fremont has a programmed street-resurfacing project for fiscal year 2026, but the public records reviewed as of August 2, 2026, do not establish when crews will begin work.

The Michigan Department of Transportation lists Job 222248 for the City of Fremont in Newaygo County under its FY 2026 Small Urban Program. The record shows the project as Active and assigns it the CON phase code.

What the project includes

MDOT lists the project length at 0.717 miles. The planned work is to mill existing pavement and apply 1.5 inches of hot-mix asphalt resurfacing at various city locations.

MDOT estimates the total project cost at $515,000. The funding breakdown is $385,000 in federal funds and $130,000 in local funds. MDOT lists $0 in state funding and identifies Fremont as the responsible local agency.

City plan names Connie Avenue and Lake Drive

Fremont’s FY 2025-2044 capital-improvement project schedule also lists a $515,000 street-resurfacing project with a funding description of 75% State Small Urban and 25% major-street funding.

The city planning record identifies the intended limits as Connie Avenue from Main Street to Lakeview and Lake Drive from Connie Avenue to the lake-township line. Those limits provide more specific local context than MDOT’s broader description of “citywide” and “various locations.”

What it means locally

For drivers, nearby residents and businesses, the records point to planned pavement work on about seven-tenths of a mile of Fremont streets. If the project advances to field construction, work could affect travel near the identified street segments. The documents reviewed do not establish closures, detours, traffic-control measures or a construction duration.
