Medford Fire Station 15 rebuild enters final phase after crews move in

Fire crews have moved into the rebuilt Fire Station 15 at 2124 Roberts Road in Medford, marking the project’s final construction phase while exterior work and a planned logistics-center conversion continue.

The City of Medford said crews moved into the new station earlier in July 2026. They are now operating from the facility instead of the temporary housing and apparatus bay used during construction.

Remaining site work

Contractors are still completing paving and landscaping around the station. That means the station is in active use, but the overall rebuild is not yet complete.

The temporary modular housing unit used during construction has been moved to the Fire Station 14 training grounds, where the city says it will be used for scenario-based firefighter training.

Temporary bay planned for logistics use

After the remaining site improvements are finished, the temporary apparatus bay is planned for conversion into a Medford Fire Department logistics facility. The city says department logistics staff are expected to move into the converted facility in September 2026.

The conversion is the project’s third phase. The city’s Fire Station 15 project page describes the broader work as including construction of the temporary apparatus bay, construction of the new station and conversion of the temporary bay to a logistics center.

Schedule and funding

Medford says the rebuild remains ahead of schedule and under budget. The city’s adopted 2025-27 budget identifies the work as project BFS2415 and describes it as the replacement of a 50-year-old station with maintenance and accessibility challenges.

The budget lists a scheduled completion date of September 30, 2026, while the Fire Station 15 project page lists November 30, 2026 as the project completion date. The city’s July 23 update says crews have moved in, but paving, landscaping and the logistics-center conversion remain.

The city announcement says the project is supported by a combination of existing resources and ongoing revenue, including $4 million from city reserves, a $0.50 increase to the Public Safety portion of the city utility fee and roughly $300,000 annually from local marijuana tax revenues. The adopted budget separately identifies General Fund and Fire Facilities Construct Fund sources for project BFS2415.

Community opening anticipated in October

A community grand opening is anticipated in October 2026, according to the city. The July 23 announcement did not provide a final event date.

For Medford residents, the immediate change is that Fire Station 15 crews are now working from the rebuilt station on Roberts Road. Exterior work and the planned conversion of the temporary apparatus bay remain before the project reaches its full completion milestone.
