Mesa Gas and Diesel Prices Rise, With Diesel Up $1.843 From Last Year

Regular gasoline and diesel prices both moved higher in the latest Phoenix-Mesa price check, with diesel showing the larger year-over-year increase.

AAA’s July 28, 2026, Phoenix-Mesa metro snapshot listed regular gasoline at $4.438 per gallon and diesel at $5.491 per gallon. These are metro averages rather than a citywide average for every station in Mesa, so individual pump prices may differ by neighborhood, fuel grade, payment method, membership discount and station.

Regular gas is higher across every comparison window

The Phoenix-Mesa regular-gas average was up 0.6 cents from the previous day, 14.0 cents from a week earlier and 49.5 cents from a month earlier. Compared with the same snapshot a year ago, regular gasoline was up $1.175 per gallon.

At the current metro average, filling a 15-gallon gasoline tank would cost about $66.57 before discounts, credit-card fees or other adjustments. That can add pressure to routine commuting, household budgets, weekend travel and trips to activities or events around Mesa and the wider East Valley.

Diesel remains the sharper annual pressure point

Diesel reached $5.491 per gallon in the same AAA update. It rose 0.3 cents from the previous day, 20.2 cents from the prior week and 53.6 cents from the prior month.

The year-over-year increase was larger than gasoline’s: diesel was up $1.843 per gallon from a year earlier. A 20-gallon diesel fill-up at the current metro average would cost about $109.82 before discounts or other adjustments.

That difference matters beyond drivers of diesel-powered vehicles. Delivery fleets, contractors, landscapers, construction companies, repair businesses and other commercial operators may face added fuel costs when vehicles and equipment require diesel. Those costs can affect operating budgets and may become one factor businesses consider when setting prices or scheduling work, although the AAA figures do not document specific local business reactions.

Mesa station prices may be higher or lower

Residents comparing pumps should treat the AAA numbers as a reference point for the Phoenix-Mesa region rather than assume every Mesa station moved by the same amount. The next AAA update may change the comparison. For now, both fuels are higher than they were yesterday, last week and last month, while diesel remains the sharper year-over-year cost increase.
