Miami Gardens Voters Will Choose Three Council Seats Aug. 18

Miami Gardens voters will choose representatives for three City Council seats in the city’s general election on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026.

The election covers the council seats for Residential Area 2, Residential Area 4 and At-Large Seat 6. Each position carries a four-year term, so the vote will set representation for those seats through the next council term.

Early voting began Aug. 3 and continues through Sunday, Aug. 16. Miami-Dade County Elections lists 23 early-voting locations available during that period, giving voters the option to cast ballots before Election Day.

Three council positions are on the ballot

Residential Area 2 and Residential Area 4 are area-based council positions. At-Large Seat 6 is a citywide seat. The three positions therefore cover both designated parts of Miami Gardens and the citywide council structure.

The City of Miami Gardens’ election notice identifies all three seats as part of the Aug. 18 general election. The notice lists the positions as four-year seats, but the election has not yet occurred and no winners or vote totals are available.

Local reporting published July 29 described candidates seeking two new City Council positions. The city’s official election notice, however, identifies three council seats in the scheduled election. Voters should rely on the final election information for the contests and voting instructions that apply to them.

Early voting runs through Aug. 16

The early-voting period covers 14 calendar days, from Aug. 3 through Aug. 16. The 23 locations are spread across Miami-Dade County. The City of Miami Gardens does not state that all 23 sites are within the city, so voters should confirm the location and any applicable requirements before traveling to a polling place.

Early voting allows residents to participate before the scheduled Tuesday election. Those who do not vote during the early-voting period can still look to Election Day, Aug. 18, as the date set for the general election.

The city’s election information connects the election to specific council representation rather than a single citywide race. Residents in Residential Areas 2 and 4 will be choosing representatives for those areas, while the At-Large Seat 6 contest concerns a seat representing the city as a whole.
