Common Council moves forward on ICE Out Milwaukee measures
Milwaukee alders advanced a set of immigration-related measures after a lengthy, high-attendance meeting Tuesday. The council unanimously approved a resolution calling for the abolition of ICE and asking the agency to avoid conducting immigration enforcement actions in the city.
A second resolution passed calling on Milwaukee police to protect constitutional rights during protests, including in situations involving other law enforcement personnel. Some alders raised concerns about how terms like intervene could be interpreted, and the city attorney declined to comment in the immediate aftermath.
Bus route service cuts begin March 8 as MCTS manages a budget deficit
Milwaukee County Transit System says a roughly $14 million deficit is driving the next phase of service reductions, with shorter route endpoints and longer waits on some lines starting Saturday, March 8. Officials said there will not be another standard fare increase this year after the jump to $2.75 earlier in 2026.

Rising costs put multiple downtown development projects in limbo
Several high-profile downtown projects remain stalled or uncertain, with developers pointing to high borrowing costs and elevated construction prices. One example cited is the conversion plan for 100 East, where the estimated cost has risen since summer, and additional city financing may still need approval.
The paused Edison high-rise site is also highlighted as a symbol of the current stop-and-start development moment, with work halted months ago and the future still unclear.
Summerfest 2026 sponsor plans take shape around the T-Mobile Stage
Festival organizers and partners announced updated sponsorship plans tied to the T-Mobile Stage for Summerfest 2026, signaling expanded on-site activity and programming around that area. More lineup and admission details are expected to roll out later.
