MnDOT advances Highway 57 resurfacing and roundabout project in Mantorville
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is moving ahead with plans for a summer 2027 project that will resurface Highway 57 through Mantorville, improve drainage facilities and build a roundabout at the intersection with Dodge County Road 16.
The resurfacing will run from Ninth Street in Mantorville to Dodge County Road 16. The roundabout is planned where Highway 57 meets County Road 16, at the end of the resurfacing segment.
The work will affect people who use Highway 57 and County Road 16, particularly during construction. MnDOT is preparing a detour for the project, but the final route and construction schedule are still being developed.
Construction planned for summer 2027
MnDOT was preparing construction plans as of March 2026. The project’s environmental review has been completed, but construction is not scheduled for 2026. The agency’s current timeline places the work in summer 2027.
Along with the new roundabout and pavement work, the project includes improvements to drainage facilities along the corridor. The planned work combines the highway resurfacing with changes at the County Road 16 intersection, giving drivers a single project timeline to track for the area.
The roundabout will be a new intersection feature for Highway 57 and County Road 16. MnDOT has not described a safety or congestion outcome for the roundabout in the project information, so its confirmed purpose in this project is the construction of the new intersection design alongside the resurfacing and drainage work.
Public meeting expected in 2026
MnDOT plans to hold another public meeting in summer or fall 2026. The meeting is expected to present the final design and the detour planned for the construction period.
That meeting will give Mantorville-area residents, property owners and highway users a chance to review how the project is expected to affect travel through the work zone before construction begins. The exact meeting date and location had not been posted by MnDOT.
The agency has not listed a final construction cost for the project. The next scheduled public step is the 2026 meeting, followed by the planned summer 2027 construction of the resurfacing, drainage improvements and roundabout.
