Modesto’s Week in Focus: Concert Crowds, Camellias and a Big Night at the State

It’s been a lively few days around town, with music, flowers and marquee events drawing residents out across Modesto.

Rend Collective Fills Calvary Chapel

Christian folk-rock band Rend Collective took the stage Tuesday night, March 24, at Calvary Chapel Modesto on American Avenue. The 7 p.m. show was part of the group’s 2026 tour and brought a strong turnout from across Stanislaus County.

Concertgoers packed the church venue for an evening of high-energy worship music and fan favorites. The stop put Modesto on a national tour schedule that has included dates across California and beyond, giving local fans a chance to see the band close to home.

Camellias in Full Bloom at MJC West

Over the weekend, the Camellia Society of Modesto hosted its 2026 Camellia Show and Sale at Modesto Junior College’s West Campus. The two-day event, held March 21 and 22, featured a free flower show, plant sales and garden talks.

Families and gardening enthusiasts browsed rows of colorful blooms inside the Mary Stuart Rogers Building. Organizers also offered raffle opportunities and live music, turning the annual show into both a horticultural showcase and a community gathering.

State Theatre Prepares for Big Weekend Show

Looking ahead, the State Theatre Modesto is preparing for a farewell concert event scheduled for Saturday, March 28. The downtown venue continues to anchor the city’s arts scene, drawing regional audiences for concerts, comedy and film.

With multiple events landing in the same week, downtown businesses are expected to see a boost in foot traffic as visitors dine and shop before and after performances.

From packed pews to blooming displays and a busy theater marquee, Modesto is closing out March with a full calendar and strong community turnout.
