Monongahela’s first Shop Through the Arts festival brings artists and downtown businesses together
Monongahela’s first Shop Through the Arts festival brought regional artists and downtown businesses together along Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, creating a new arts-and-shopping opportunity in the city.
Organized by the Monongahela Main Street Program, the festival ran from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and combined regional art vendors with shopping at participating downtown businesses. The program invited regional artists to apply as vendors, while businesses along Main Street took part in the coordinated downtown promotion.
The event was described as Monongahela’s first Shop Through the Arts festival. The initiative gave local businesses a shared way to promote downtown shopping and gave regional artists an opportunity to participate in a city event. Artist applications and preparations began ahead of the festival, with the Main Street Program opening the vendor application process in April.
The Main Street Program has not publicly reported attendance, total vendor participation, the number of participating businesses, sales, fundraising or other post-event measures. It also has not announced a date for another festival, so the next step for the event series remains undecided.
