South Avenue (County Route 683) in Mount Holly Township is scheduled for pavement milling and overlay/resurfacing to begin Monday, July 13, 2026, with traffic controlled so that one lane is maintained in the same direction as crews work.

The project covers about a 0.7-mile stretch of South Avenue from Madison Avenue (Route 691) to Pine Street (Route 612).

Burlington County says work will be done using a pattern that keeps one lane moving in the same direction during milling and paving operations.

For vehicles traveling through the area in the opposite direction, the county’s posted detour route is via Madison Avenue, Washington Street, and Pine Street. The county also says detour signage will be in place.

This work is part of Burlington County’s broader road resurfacing program. In a separate update, the county said the commissioners approved a $12.3 million contract for milling and overlay work on 17 county roads under the State Funded Overlay Plan, pending NJDOT approval, with the roadwork described as weather-dependent.
