MTA’s Q26 redesign brings 24-hour service to Fresh Meadows
The MTA’s redesigned Q26 bus route began operating June 29, 2025, bringing 24-hour service between College Point and Fresh Meadows. The route runs via College Point Boulevard, Parsons Boulevard and 46th Avenue.
The change gives Fresh Meadows riders overnight bus access on a route that previously operated with more limited service. The new schedule lists overnight trips approximately every 30 minutes on both weekdays and weekends.
What changed for riders
Service levels vary by time of day. Listed weekday peak and midday frequencies range from every 6 to 16 minutes, depending on the service period. The redesign also changes stop coverage and removes some stops.
Average stop spacing is listed at 674 feet under the existing arrangement and 1,156 feet under the redesign. That means some riders may have to walk farther to reach a stop, even as the route gains overnight service.
Fresh Meadows-area stops identified by the MTA include Utopia Parkway, Hollis Court Boulevard and Francis Lewis Boulevard. Riders should check the current MTA schedule and Bus Time information before traveling because stop locations and operating conditions may differ from the former Q26 arrangement.
College Point detour
The MTA’s current Bus Time page continues to identify the route as College Point–Fresh Meadows and lists a temporary detour caused by roadwork at College Point Boulevard and 28th Avenue. The notice does not state when that detour will end.
The Q26 redesign is part of the MTA’s Queens Bus Network Redesign. For Fresh Meadows, the most significant practical changes are the new overnight coverage, revised stop locations and longer average distances between stops.
