Nebraska Ave NW lane closures for DC PLUG Feeder 467 begin July 7
DDOT says Nebraska Ave NW (Nevada Ave NW to Connecticut Ave NW) will have 24-hour, two-lane closures starting July 7 through Aug. 7 for DC PLUG Feeder 467.
Beginning July 7, 2026 through August 7, 2026, DDOT says two westbound lanes on Nebraska Avenue NW—from Nevada Avenue NW to Connecticut Avenue NW—will be closed for approximately one month with twenty-four-hour two-lane closures as part of the DC Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) work for Feeder 467.
DDOT also says the eastbound roadway will be split and reconfigured to carry two-way traffic, with one lane provided in each direction in the work zone. The agency warns motorists and pedestrians to expect delays and to follow posted detour and traffic-control signage.
What’s changing on Nebraska Ave NW
- Westbound: two lanes will be closed within the project limits (Nevada Ave NW to Connecticut Ave NW).
- Eastbound/right-of-way: the roadway will be split and reconfigured to move two-way traffic through the zone (one lane each direction).
- Timing: the closures are planned as 24-hour work over the July 7–Aug. 7 window.
WTOP notes the work could create a traffic bottleneck on the area’s east-west commuter route over the month.
Who is most affected
This is the portion of Nebraska Ave NW that links drivers moving through the corridor near Chevy Chase. Impacts are most likely for:
- Commuters trying to cross the corridor during rush hours
- Residents seeking to access local streets and driveways near the work segment
- Pedestrians navigating around the construction footprint, signage, and traffic-control devices
How to plan during the closure window
- Allow extra travel time if your route uses Nebraska Ave NW through the work zone.
- Follow posted detour and traffic-control instructions and drive/turn carefully where cones, barriers, and signs guide traffic.
- Re-check plans before you go—the traffic pattern is expected to remain altered through the full July 7–Aug. 7 period.
