Newaygo planning panel schedules Aug. 6 hearing on proposed sign and billboard zoning changes
The Newaygo City Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on proposed changes to the city’s zoning rules for permanent and temporary signs and billboards. The proposal would revise Chapter 5 of the Newaygo zoning ordinance, but it has not been adopted.
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Newaygo City Council Chambers, 28 N. State Road, Newaygo, Michigan 49337.
The proposed amendments could affect property owners, businesses and developers whose projects involve signage. Residents may also be affected as the city considers changes to standards governing signs and billboards throughout Newaygo.
Public comment comes before any final action
The hearing gives members of the public a formal opportunity to comment before the proposed amendments move through the city’s zoning process. The notice says the hearing is being held under the city zoning ordinance and applicable Michigan statutes.
