North Royalton Daily Brief: Snow, Fire Response, and Weekend Events
Good morning, North Royalton. Here is a quick look at what’s shaping your Saturday after a snowy, blustery end to the week.
North Royalton firefighters assist at Broadview Heights house fire
Early Friday morning, firefighters from Broadview Heights called in mutual aid from several neighboring departments, including North Royalton, to battle a house fire on Oakwood Trail. Crews arrived to find heavy flames and smoke, and the home was ultimately destroyed. No injuries were reported, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Residents in the area may continue to see activity around the scene as investigators work through the weekend.
Winter storm leaves fresh snow and bitter cold
Friday’s system brought periods of moderate to heavy snow, gusty northwest winds, and quickly falling wind chills across North Royalton. A Winter Weather Advisory ran through late Friday night, followed by a Cold Weather Advisory early today. Forecasts call for dangerous wind chills around 20 degrees below zero early this morning, slowly improving as sunshine returns. Highs today are only expected to reach around 10 degrees before another frigid night, so extra layers and caution on any untreated surfaces are still the rule.
Local events add warmth to a cold weekend
Despite the Arctic air, there is plenty happening close to home. Today’s calendar includes the Plantentine’s Sip N’ Shop at Maria Gardens Center, offering a mix of plants, gifts, and local vendors, along with live music in The Grotto featuring Funkology later in the day. Looking ahead, a series of Galentine’s themed gatherings, from a salt box sound bath on State Road to a women-in-business networking party on York Alpha Parkway, will give residents several options to celebrate friendship and community over the next two weeks.
High school hoops and a big raffle night
Friday night also featured a home boys basketball matchup between North Royalton and Wadsworth, with the Bears entering the game on a strong 11–4 record. The game also served as the drawing for a community car raffle organized by the North Royalton Athletic Boosters and Stadium Foundation, with tickets sold in advance across the district.
