Palisades Park heads into the weekend with updates on snow cleanup, parking rules, public safety, and a new way to celebrate the borough’s past.

Snow cleanup and alternate side parking

The borough has kept alternate side parking in effect to help public works crews finish clearing snow from local streets. Officials say the goal is to give plows enough room to safely work through narrow blocks and high-traffic areas.

A daily list of streets scheduled for plowing and snow removal is being shared through the borough’s website, social media, and resident email alerts. Residents are urged to move vehicles during posted hours so crews can widen travel lanes, improve visibility at corners, and keep school routes safe for walkers and buses.

New resident parking permit system

The borough has completed its transition to a new online resident parking permit portal. The previous system has been shut down, and existing permits were transferred into the new platform so drivers do not need to reapply.

Officials are directing residents to use the new portal for all permit applications, visitor passes, and updates. The local police department has also reminded seniors and anyone without easy computer access that help is available through the records office by phone.

On the street, newer meters now support text-to-park and QR code payments, giving shoppers and visitors another way to pay without carrying coins or using a separate app.

Local officer charged after investigation

County prosecutors have announced a charge of fourth-degree false swearing against a Palisades Park police officer following an internal investigation earlier this week. Investigators say the officer is accused of giving false statements while under oath during the inquiry.

The officer was arrested in Hackensack and released pending an appearance in Superior Court. Prosecutors emphasized that the charge is an accusation and that the officer, like any defendant, is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

125th anniversary history book

The borough is also promoting a new 125th anniversary history book, “Looking Back at Palisades Park: 1899–2024.” The volume highlights key moments, local landmarks, and community stories spanning more than a century.

Copies are available to order online, offering long-time residents and newer neighbors a chance to learn more about how the community has grown and changed.
