Paola-area voters can vote early as Miami County extends hours July 28
Miami County voters can vote early in Paola from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 28, with more advance-voting sessions before the Aug. 4 primary.
Miami County voters in and around Paola have an extended opportunity to vote in person Tuesday, July 28, before the Aug. 4 primary.
Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Miami County Administration Building, 201 S. Pearl St., on the first floor in Paola. The six-hour window is the county’s extended-hours session for Tuesday.
Remaining early-voting schedule
Voters who cannot make it Tuesday still have several in-person advance-voting options before Election Day:
- Wednesday, July 29, through Friday, July 31: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 1: 8 a.m. to noon
- Monday, Aug. 3: 8 a.m. to noon
In-person early voting ends at noon Monday, Aug. 3. These sessions are advance voting, not Election Day voting, and the Paola site is for eligible Miami County voters.
Election Day is Aug. 4
The primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 4, with regular polling places open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Election Day, voters generally go to their assigned polling location rather than the early-voting site at the county administration building.
Voters who recently moved, changed addresses or are unsure where to vote should check their information before heading to the polls. Kansas election officials direct voters to the official VoteKansas.gov VoterView service, where they can verify registration information, polling locations, sample ballots, voting history and the status of an advance mail ballot.
Mail-ballot deadline is also July 28
Tuesday, July 28, is also the deadline for Miami County to receive advance-mail-ballot applications by close of business. That deadline is separate from the in-person early-voting schedule.
The Miami County election calendar lists the Aug. 4 primary date and the noon Aug. 3 close of in-person advance voting. The Kansas Secretary of State’s election guidance also identifies July 28 as the date by which in-person advance voting must be available in every county.
Because polling locations and election instructions can vary by voter, Miami County residents should check the county’s primary-election information and VoterView before voting. The county election office is the appropriate source for any last-minute schedule or location changes.
