Bridgeport Primary Set for Aug. 11 After Early Voting Period
Bridgeport voters are scheduled to decide state, district and municipal primary contests on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, in an election that will set the next stage for several local and regional races.
Polls are scheduled to open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. The election follows a weeklong early-voting period held Aug. 3 through Aug. 9 at Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street.
The city’s Registrar of Voters has identified the Aug. 11 election as the next primary for Bridgeport voters. The ballot includes contests connected to municipal government as well as district and state offices, making the election relevant to more than one level of government.
Election Day details
Voters who cast ballots on Election Day will use the polling place assigned to them by the city. The regular voting window is six hours in the morning and 14 hours in the afternoon and evening, from 6 a.m. through 8 p.m.
The early-voting location at Margaret Morton Government Center is at 999 Broad Street. Early voting and curbside voting were offered there during the Aug. 3-9 period.
With that period over, the scheduled citywide voting opportunity is Election Day on Aug. 11. The city’s election information also lists noon on Aug. 10 as the deadline for certain in-person registration or party-enrollment actions.
Why the primary matters
A primary is the immediate decision point for candidates seeking to move forward in the election process. In Bridgeport, the Aug. 11 vote covers municipal, district and state contests involving city voters.
That means the election can affect which candidates continue in those contests, including races tied directly to city government and others representing broader districts. The practical consequence for voters is that Tuesday’s ballot helps determine the candidate lineup for the next phase of the applicable races.
Participation rules can differ by contest and voter status. The city’s Registrar of Voters provides the election dates, polling hours and registration-related information for Bridgeport voters, including the Aug. 10 noon deadline for the specified in-person actions.
Results are still pending
No official vote totals were available before Election Day. Candidates cannot be described as winners, leaders or advancing based on the information available before polls open.
The next confirmed step is the Aug. 11 vote itself. Polls are scheduled to remain open until 8 p.m., after which ballots will be counted and official results can begin to establish the outcome of the primary contests.
For Bridgeport residents, the key dates are Aug. 10 at noon for the specified in-person registration or party-enrollment actions and Aug. 11 for voting. Early voting at 999 Broad Street ran from Aug. 3 through Aug. 9 and is no longer part of the remaining election schedule.
