Pittsburgh advances $6.76M stormwater fix for Carrick, Overbrook
Work is expected to start in July 2026 on a Stewart Avenue project meant to reduce localized flooding in Carrick and Overbrook for nearby streets and homes.
Pittsburgh is moving ahead with a $6.76 million Stewart Avenue stormwater project aimed at reducing localized flooding in Carrick and Overbrook.
The project was announced June 11 by Pittsburgh Water and the City of Pittsburgh. Construction is expected to begin in July 2026 and continue through September 2027.
According to Pittsburgh Water, the work will add storm sewer and green infrastructure and include road and sidewalk improvements. The goal is to improve drainage and reduce the kind of localized flooding that can affect nearby streets during heavy rain.
Pittsburgh Water also says traffic will be maintained with flaggers and temporary lane restrictions during construction, so drivers and neighbors should expect disruptions once the work starts.
For Carrick and Overbrook residents, the practical takeaway is simple: this is a targeted drainage project, but it will function like a long-running neighborhood street project through most of the next year and a half.
