AT&T headquarters deal heads to Plano council

Plano leaders are preparing to vote on a major incentive package aimed at cementing AT&T’s move to the city. The proposed agreements would offer around $20 million in grants, fee waivers and long-term tax rebates from Plano’s economic development fund in exchange for the telecom giant formally locating its global headquarters in the Legacy area.

AT&T has already announced plans to redevelop the former Electronic Data Systems campus on Legacy Drive into a new headquarters complex. City documents describe a project of at least 2 million square feet with a minimum private investment of about $1.35 billion in construction. If approved, the deal would push total public support for the relocation to more than $36 million and mark one of Plano’s largest corporate redevelopment efforts to date.

Council is expected to take up the agreements at its February 23 meeting, where members will weigh the projected job growth, long-term tax base and traffic impacts tied to the campus build-out.

Ticketstock 2026 takes over Plano Event Center

Sports fans are descending on the Plano Event Center today for the opening of Ticketstock 2026, a free two-day fan festival running February 20-21. The event features autograph sessions, panel discussions and activities built around local pro teams and sports radio personalities.

Headlining this year’s lineup is Hall of Fame catcher Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez, along with former Dallas Cowboys great Charles Haley and three-time Super Bowl winner Kevin ‘Pup’ Smith. Organizers promise a card and collectible show, food tastings, game demos, bingo with prizes, arcade-style video games and a live concert on Saturday night.

Admission and parking are free, and activities run from noon to 8 p.m. both days at the Event Center on Spring Creek Parkway.

Sensory-friendly play night at Slick City

Families seeking a lower-sensory outing got a new option this week as Slick City in Plano hosted a special evening session designed for guests who benefit from a calmer environment. The ‘Sensory Hours’ event on Thursday offered 90 minutes of reduced-noise, lower-light play time at the indoor slide and activity park on Preston Park Boulevard.

The session limited capacity and adjusted sound and lighting levels to make the space more comfortable for children and adults with sensory sensitivities. Tickets were sold at a flat rate per guest, with advance reservations encouraged due to space limits.

Organizers indicate additional sensory-focused sessions are planned, giving families another inclusive recreation choice alongside Plano’s growing menu of adaptive and accessible programs.

On the community calendar

Looking ahead to the weekend, the Plano Event Center continues Ticketstock programming on Saturday, while the Plano Public Library system is preparing for a family storytime at Parr Library and other regular children’s events. City parks and recreation staff are also promoting upcoming spring gatherings, from outdoor campfire socials at Oak Point Park to larger March festivals in downtown.
