In October 2025, a 13-year-old student was arrested for making electronic threats of a school shooting at Renaissance Charter School in Plantation. The arrest followed concerned parents notifying the school’s safety officer about the threats posted on social media. The juvenile was charged with written or electronic threats to kill and disruption of a school function, and was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. Plantation Police emphasized the seriousness of such threats and urged parents to discuss the severe consequences of making false or threatening reports involving weapons at local schools.
Luxury Apartment Project: The Ellsworth
Stiles Residential Group has launched The Ellsworth at Midtown Plantation, a 315-unit luxury apartment community under construction at the corner of Peters Road and SW 80th Street.
