Pomona double-homicide defendant pleads not guilty; Oct. 13 court date set
Robert Galtman, 48, pleaded not guilty July 21, 2026, to charges stemming from the June 18 killings of Veronica Lopez and Richard Brady at a Pomona apartment complex. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 13, 2026.
Galtman faces two counts of murder and one count of evading police. The murder charges include special-circumstance allegations involving multiple murders and allegations that a firearm was used to cause great bodily harm. He remains jailed without bail while the case proceeds.
Charges remain allegations
Galtman’s not-guilty plea means he has denied the charges in court. The allegations are not findings of guilt, and the criminal case remains pending. The Oct. 13 appearance is a scheduled court date, not a guaranteed trial date or final resolution.
What happened in Pomona
The case stems from a June 18 police response to reported gunfire in the 100 block of East Monterey Avenue. Lopez and Brady were found with gunshot wounds at the apartment location and were pronounced dead, according to reporting on the incident.
Galtman was later arrested after a pursuit involving the California Highway Patrol. Officers used spike strips and a precision immobilization technique, or PIT maneuver, to stop the vehicle, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Next court date
Galtman is scheduled to return to court Oct. 13, 2026. No verdict has been reported. The case will continue through the court process while he remains in custody without bail.
