Radisson Road closure in Blaine continues through Aug. 31
Radisson Road is closed to north-south traffic around 109th Avenue in Blaine through the scheduled end of the first construction stage on Aug. 31, 2026.
Anoka County began the closure July 27 for signal and roadway improvements. The county’s detour listing identifies the affected Radisson Road segment as running from 107th Lane to Amen Drive/Radisson Woods Drive. Drivers cannot use Radisson Road to travel through the 109th Avenue intersection, but 109th Avenue remains open for east-west through traffic.
Drivers should follow the signed detour
The signed detour routes traffic through Main Street, Highway 65 and 105th Avenue. Drivers whose trips normally cross 109th Avenue on Radisson Road should follow posted signs and allow extra time through the work zone.
Aug. 31 is the current scheduled end date for this closure stage. It is not a guarantee that every part of the broader intersection project will be complete by that date.
Construction includes signal and roadway improvements
The project includes a new signal system at 109th Avenue and Tournament Players Parkway/Mankato Street, along with signal and turn-lane improvements at the existing 109th Avenue and Radisson Road intersection.
Anoka County’s July 31 update said the contractor had completed removals and storm-sewer installation within the active construction stage. Concrete curb installation was scheduled for the following week.
Anoka County is carrying out the work in partnership with the City of Blaine and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The improvements are part of traffic-management measures intended to accommodate increased traffic during reconstruction of Highway 65.
The county board’s June 9 agenda identified a $3,878,355.61 contract with North Pine Aggregate Inc. for the Blaine intersection improvements. The agenda said the work is funded through county, state-aid, transportation-tax, municipal-aid and local funds.
