Suspected Street Racing Crash Injures 13
In a separate incident, a multi-vehicle crash believed to be caused by illegal street racing resulted in 13 injuries. The accident occurred at the intersection of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Pierce Road around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police reported that two cars were racing when they collided and spun into oncoming traffic, involving at least five vehicles. The victims, ranging from 3 to 52 years old, were taken to the hospital, with the two drivers of the racing cars in critical condition. Lansing Mayor Andy Schor expressed anger over the reckless driving that led to the accident, stating, “I am angry that these selfish, reckless drivers created an unsafe situation that led to such a horrible accident on S MLK, inflicting so much harm to innocent bystanders.”
