Weekend Shootings
On January 31, 2026, Murfreesboro police responded to a “shots fired” call in the 3100 block of South Church Street. Officers discovered a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds on Meigs Drive; he was treated at a hospital. A second man, 22-year-old Roger Battle, was found on London View Drive with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three vehicles were also struck by gunfire. Authorities believe the incident may be drug-related and are seeking witnesses to assist in the investigation.
Pre-Dawn Shooting on Sulphur Springs Road
Early on February 2, 2026, a shooting occurred on Sulphur Springs Road. One person was transported to a hospital, and a section of the roadway was closed, causing traffic delays for early morning drivers. The Murfreesboro Police Department assured the public that there was no immediate danger and advised motorists to use alternate routes while investigators processed the scene.
