Revere Commission Leaves BK’s Bar Matter on File After Voluntary Weekend Hour Cut

Revere’s License Commission left a matter involving BK’s Bar & Grill on file after reviewing State Police complaints and hearing that the business had voluntarily shortened its Friday and Saturday closing time from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The July 15, 2026, hearing concerned R K & E Corp., doing business as BK’s Bar & Grill, at 264 Ocean Avenue. The commission did not impose a new sanction at the hearing. The matter can be addressed again if additional incidents are reported.

Complaints involved disruptions and fights

The city’s official agenda described the hearing as a review of State Police complaints involving “numerous disruptions,” service to intoxicated patrons, assaults and fights. Those were complaints and matters presented for licensing review, not new criminal findings established by the commission.

Revere’s License Commission handles licensing oversight and disciplinary hearings for businesses operating under city licenses. The commission meets monthly to consider license applications, disciplinary matters and other license-related issues.

BK’s shortened Friday and Saturday hours

Robert Kelly, identified in local hearing coverage as the owner and manager, told commissioners that BK’s had proactively changed its Friday and Saturday closing time to 1 a.m. instead of 2 a.m.

Kelly also described changes to the business’s security practices, including dismissing security staff who had allowed patrons to enter after new-customer entry should have ended. State Police Sgt. Edward Troy described additional steps involving identification checks and preventing overservice, according to the Revere Journal’s account of the hearing.

Troy told commissioners that conditions appeared to be better, although he qualified that assessment by noting that only a short period had passed since the changes.

Commission takes no new action

The commission voted to place the BK’s matter “on file.” That means the July 15 hearing ended without a new penalty, but it does not establish that all concerns have been permanently resolved.

For customers and nearby residents, the immediate reported change is the earlier 1 a.m. closing time on Fridays and Saturdays. The commission can address the matter in the future if further incidents bring the business back before the licensing panel.
