High school tennis classic in town

Ridgeland is packed with high school tennis teams this weekend as the USTA Mississippi High School Classic wraps up play. The February 6–7 event brings players, coaches, and families from around the state, filling area hotels and restaurants and giving student athletes an early season tune up.

City spotlight on seniors and spring fun

The city is preparing for its Senior Adult Valentine Luncheon on Tuesday, February 10, at 11:30 a.m. at Colonial Heights Baptist Church on Northpark Drive. Tickets are $10 at Ridgeland Recreation Center and City Hall, with a limited number of seats for residents who want lunch, live entertainment, and time to visit with friends.

Recreation and Parks staff are also taking registrations for March dog obedience classes at the Ridgeland Recreational Center and planning the citywide Easter Egg Hunt at Freedom Ridge Park on March 26. Families with children ten and under can look ahead to age based egg hunts, photos with the Easter Bunny, and a free evening of play as the weather warms.

Ridgeland hosting state training sessions

This month, Ridgeland’s Embassy Suites will serve as a training hub for local governments from across Mississippi. City clerks arrive February 11–13 for the Spring Certified Municipal Clerk course, followed by the Collector of Revenue I training set for February 23–26, bringing dozens of professionals into the city for several days.

Beyond the classroom work, the back to back sessions should provide a welcome boost for Ridgeland’s hotels, restaurants, and shops during the slower winter stretch.

Tourism push ahead of Dixie National Rodeo

Local tourism partners are also looking toward the Dixie National Rodeo, which runs February 13–15 and 18–21 at the State Fairgrounds in Jackson. Ridgeland is being promoted as a convenient base for rodeo fans, with quick interstate access and a cluster of lodging, dining, and shopping options.

Residents may see more out of town traffic along major corridors those weekends, plus a bump in visitors exploring Ridgeland’s retail centers and trails between performances.
