Ridgewood Ravine PFAS Facility Reaches Acceptance Milestone

Ridgewood Water has reached a formal project milestone at the Ravine PFAS Treatment Facility, but the utility’s larger treatment and pipeline program is still being built across the four-municipality system.

The Village Council’s July 15, 2026 agenda included Resolution 26-200, which authorized acceptance of the Ravine PFAS Treatment Facility project. The agenda says Mott MacDonald, the engineer of record, certified that the project was complete and that the resolution would approve the final “as built” plan filed with Ridgewood Water.

Ravine is one milestone in a 12-facility program

The Ravine action should not be read as completion of Ridgewood Water’s entire PFAS response. A New Jersey Infrastructure Bank notice says the utility is building 12 centralized granular activated carbon treatment plants and new raw-water pipelines for a system serving Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park and Wyckoff.

Current Ridgewood Water project materials identify additional facilities and related work at different stages. The Eastside PFAS Treatment Facility is listed at 430 E. Saddle River Road in Ridgewood, while the Cedar Hill facility is listed at 444 Cedar Hill Avenue in Wyckoff. The utility’s materials also list other treatment facilities in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park and Wyckoff.

That means formal completion of Ravine is a project-specific milestone, not final approval or operation of every facility in the treatment network. The utility’s broader schedule and status can change as construction, testing, connections and paving progress.

Pipeline work can still affect roads

Ridgewood Water’s project and roadwork advisory says raw-water mains are being installed to connect satellite wells with PFAS treatment facilities. For the Eastside project, the advisory identifies E. Saddle River Road, E. Glen Avenue and Van Emburgh Avenue as affected roads. It says raw-water main installation was scheduled for June 1 through July 17, 2026, with final paving planned at least 90 days after underground utility work is completed.

The advisory also identifies other construction and paving conditions across the system, including pending final paving near the Ames facility in Wyckoff and a fall 2026 final-paving plan for one Cedar Hill-related raw-water main contract. Those entries are project notices, not blanket closure orders. Residents should check Ridgewood Water’s current advisory before assuming a road is closed, open, paved or unaffected.

Financing and compliance context

The New Jersey Infrastructure Bank reported in January that Ridgewood Village closed on three New Jersey Water Bank loans totaling $18,547,052 for PFAS treatment work. The notice says testing found elevated PFOA and PFOS levels in the Ridgewood Water system above New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection standards adopted in 2020, and that the treatment plan is being completed in phases through 2026.

The loan figure provides financing context for the program, but it should not be treated as the final cost of every facility, pipeline or related construction component. The municipal agenda and Ridgewood Water’s project pages remain the better sources for individual facility status, contracts, schedules and road impacts.

For Ridgewood residents and water customers, the practical takeaway is that Ravine has reached a formal acceptance milestone while other treatment facilities, raw-water connections and restoration work remain part of the systemwide buildout. The next useful updates will concern the status of the remaining facilities, construction access, paving and any customer notices from Ridgewood Water.
