City Services Resume
City offices reopened on Tuesday, January 27, after a brief closure due to the storm. The Oliver W. Hill Justice Center resumed normal hours, and Roanoke Public Libraries opened from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Trash and recycling services are back on schedule, with revised collection days announced for the week. Residents are advised to secure all trash bags to prevent litter and place them at least three feet from obstructions like mailboxes or parked cars.
Road Conditions and Safety
City crews have been working around the clock to clear snow and ice from residential streets. However, officials warn that travel remains hazardous, especially on secondary roads where snowpack and ice persist due to frigid temperatures. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
Community Support
Warming shelters, including the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, have been operating nonstop since Saturday night, providing critical aid as temperatures dropped into the single digits with wind chills below zero. Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors who may be vulnerable and to utilize warming centers if needed.

As the community continues to recover, residents are urged to stay informed through official city channels for updates on service limitations, warming and feeding centers, closures, travel safety, snow removal, and storm impact around the City.
