Rock Hill school board candidate filing opens for three 2026 seats
Filing is open for three Rock Hill School District trustee seats, giving prospective candidates until noon Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, to enter the nonpartisan 2026 general-election process.
Seats 2, 4 and At-Large are included in the filing period that began at noon Monday, Aug. 3. The York County Board of Voter Registration and Elections says the deadline is a firm noon cutoff, not the end of the business day.
Where Rock Hill candidates file
Although the offices are for the Rock Hill school district, candidates file in York at the York County Government Center, 6 South Congress St., Level 1, Suite 1201, York, S.C. 29745.
Weekday filing hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The elections office can be reached at 803-684-1242.
York County says filing fees are not required for nonpartisan candidates. Its election page also links to candidate tracking so residents can see who has filed in real time as the process continues.
Paperwork candidates must complete
Candidates must submit a Statement of Intention of Candidacy using the required nonpartisan form, which is available through the Candidate Information section of scVOTES.gov and at the county elections office.
Separate ethics paperwork is also required. Candidates must file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the South Carolina State Ethics Commission.
The county notice warns that failing to submit those ethics documents may result in fines or other fees. It also states that the failure itself will not disqualify a candidate from the election.
Separate Senate District 15 primary is Sept. 1
Rock Hill-area voters should distinguish the school-board filing process from a separate election listed by York County officials: a special Democratic primary for South Carolina Senate District 15 on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. A runoff, if needed, is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15.
York County says many polling locations for the special primaries have been relocated or consolidated because of scheduling conflicts. The county’s September 1 polling-location document was listed as posting soon, so voters should verify their location through the state election system before voting.
For prospective school-board candidates, the immediate deadline is noon Aug. 17. Residents can use York County’s election resources and the state candidate-tracking system for updates as filings are processed.
