Red Tie Gala supports local healthcare

The Memorial Hospital Foundation’s annual Red Tie Gala is set for this evening at the Sweetwater Events Complex. The formal fundraiser starts around late afternoon and runs into the evening, with dinner, auctions and live entertainment to benefit healthcare services close to home.

This year’s gala also features a limited-ticket raffle for a family trip to Southern California, including airfare, lodging and theme park passes. Proceeds from both the gala and raffle are aimed at equipment and program needs at the local hospital, and organizers are encouraging residents to dress up, enjoy a night out and keep their dollars working in Sweetwater County.

Hometown hockey at the Family Rec Center

Local hockey fans had plenty to cheer about Friday night as the Rock Springs Miners took the ice at the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center. The team hosted Idaho Falls in an evening matchup that brought families and youth teams out to the rink.

The Miners’ schedule shows more home dates through February and March, giving residents several more chances to catch a game, support local players and make use of the community’s ice arena as winter rolls on.

Sweetwater County authorities have released their most recent detention center logs covering the early morning hours of February 5 through February 7. The reports list several new bookings tied to Rock Springs and nearby communities.

Ongoing winter fun downtown

For those looking to stay closer to home between big events, the Snowman Stroll public art display continues in downtown Rock Springs. The outdoor exhibit features dozens of life-sized snowmen decorated by local artists and will remain up into early March, offering a low-cost, family-friendly way to get outside and explore the historic district.
