Rockville Gas Snapshot: Regular Is $3.85 and Diesel Is $4.87
Rockvilleโs latest station snapshot shows regular gas at $3.85 and diesel at $4.87, while Maryland averages moved differently day to day and remain above last week.
A Shell station at 260 N. Washington St. in Rockville was listing estimated regular gasoline at $3.85 per gallon and diesel at $4.87 per gallon in the latest available station data.
Those figures are station-level estimates, not a citywide Rockville average. Prices can differ by location, brand, payment method and loyalty discounts, so drivers should treat the listing as a local snapshot rather than a guarantee of the pump price.
Maryland regular gas eased from the previous day
The AAA Maryland fuel-price report dated July 29, 2026, put the statewide average for regular gasoline at $4.168 per gallon, down from $4.176 the day before. The Maryland average was still 4.3 cents higher than a week earlier, when it stood at $4.125.
AAA listed the national regular-gas average at $4.091 on the same date. That puts the Maryland average about 7.7 cents above the national figure, although neither number represents the price at every station in Rockville.
Diesel stayed flat statewide while remaining elevated
Diesel moved differently. AAA reported a Maryland average of $5.434 per gallon on July 29, unchanged from the prior day and 8.5 cents higher than a week earlier. The state diesel average was also 65.3 cents above its level a month earlier.
The Rockville station estimate of $4.87 is below the statewide diesel average, but diesel prices matter most to drivers and businesses that use larger quantities of fuel. Delivery operators, contractors, landscapers, repair companies and other service businesses may face higher operating costs when diesel remains elevated. Those costs can affect trip planning and margins, even when businesses do not immediately pass them on to customers.
What Rockville drivers should watch
For commuters and households, regular gasoline is the more direct expense. A few cents per gallon can make a noticeable difference over repeated fill-ups, particularly for drivers with long commutes or larger vehicles. Weekend travelers also may want to compare prices before leaving Rockville rather than assuming nearby stations are charging the same amount.
The main takeaway is the difference between a named-station estimate and broader averages: the Shell listing was below the Maryland regular-gas and diesel averages, while statewide prices moved differently from one day to the next but remained higher than a week earlier.
