Round Rock-Area Gas Falls Below $3.60 as Diesel Tops $5.10
Round Rock-area regular gas fell to $3.597 in the latest metro check, while diesel rose to $5.117, creating mixed costs for drivers and businesses.
Regular gasoline is easing in the Austin-San Marcos market used as the applicable metro measure for Round Rock, while diesel prices are moving higher. AAA’s July 31, 2026, check listed regular gas at $3.597 per gallon and diesel at $5.117.
These are metro averages, not citywide averages for Round Rock alone. Individual stations can show different prices based on location, competition, payment method and update time.
Regular gas is lower than a day and a week earlier
AAA listed the Austin-San Marcos regular-gas average at $3.597 on July 31, down 1.8 cents from the previous day and 16.5 cents from a week earlier. That provides some short-term relief for Round Rock commuters, households running errands, parents driving to activities and weekend travelers.
The longer-term comparison remains less favorable. The metro regular-gas average was 40 cents higher than a month earlier and 75.5 cents higher than a year earlier. The latest daily and weekly movement is downward, but the average remains above its month-ago and year-ago levels.
Diesel is moving in the opposite direction
Diesel reached $5.117 per gallon in the same AAA market on July 31. That was 1.2 cents higher than the prior day and 19.7 cents higher than a week earlier.
Diesel was also 94 cents above its month-ago average and $1.781 above its year-ago level. Those higher fuel costs can increase operating pressure for delivery drivers, contractors, freight operators, landscapers and service businesses. Restaurants and other businesses that rely on regular deliveries may also face higher transportation-related expenses, although the local impact will vary by company and contract.
Round Rock pump prices vary by station
Dated station listings show why drivers should not treat the metro average as the price at every Round Rock pump. The Way price page listed regular gasoline at $2.89 at the Speedy Stop at 551 University Blvd. on July 19. It listed $3.41 at QuikTrip locations at 2231 S. Mays St. and 901 Louis Henna Blvd. on the same date.
Those are July 19 station snapshots, not current August 1 prices, and they should not be used to estimate every station in the city. Pump prices can change quickly and may differ by location or payment requirements.
For local households, the takeaway is mixed: gasoline commuters may see modest short-term relief, while diesel-dependent businesses continue to face higher costs that could eventually affect delivery charges, service pricing or other household expenses. AAA’s Texas average on July 31 was $3.630 for regular gas and $5.042 for diesel, providing statewide context but not a substitute for the Austin-San Marcos metro figures.
