RTA closes Wright Stop Plaza July 20–Aug. 7: Third Street reroutes for riders
Greater Dayton RTA says Wright Stop Plaza will be closed temporarily for bus lane repairs and other maintenance starting Monday, July 20, 2026. RTA expects the work to be completed by Friday, August 7, 2026.
What’s closed (and what stays open) at Wright Stop Plaza
During the maintenance period, RTA says:
- The platform and smoking area will be closed.
- The passenger waiting area and restrooms will remain open.
Where to catch the bus instead: Third Street
RTA will relocate bus operations out of Wright Stop Plaza and onto Third Street for the duration of the closure. Riders should also pay attention to which side of Third Street is serving their direction:
- Northbound/eastbound buses will serve customers on the eastbound side of Third Street.
- Southbound/westbound buses will serve customers on the westbound side of Third Street.
RTA says transit ambassadors will be stationed on both sides of Third Street to assist customers during the changeover.
Expect minor delays on some routes
RTA warns that several routes may experience minor delays while the closure is in place. If your commute relies on Wright Stop Plaza transfers between July 20 and Aug. 7, plan a little extra time.
How to get real-time updates (and avoid “wrong stop” surprises)
RTA recommends using the Transit app for real-time trip planning during the closure window.
Riders can also use RideTime to check stop-specific predictions. For example, the RideTime listing for Wright Stop Plaza – S.B. (Stop #7138) includes a text option: text “RTA 7138” to 41411 for arrival times.
One caution: RideTime stop pages can show messages like “No service is scheduled for this stop at this time.” For the most reliable guidance during construction, check RideTime/alerts close to when you plan to leave.
Commuters connecting from Greene County: what to know
Greene County’s Greene CATS notes that scheduled rides to and from the Greater Dayton RTA Wright Stop Plaza (and Eastown Transit Center) into Greene County will continue to be provided. That means service connections may still exist, but you may need to adjust where you board or transfer because RTA bus operations shift to Third Street during the maintenance window.
Bottom line
From July 20 through the expected completion by Aug. 7, 2026, don’t expect Wright Stop Plaza platform boarding. Use Third Street instead, and match your direction to the correct side of the street. Check the Transit app and/or RideTime close to departure in case schedules shift day-to-day during the work.
