Salkum voters have five days to return August 4 primary ballots

Salkum voters have five days to return ballots for Washington’s August 4, 2026, primary election. Lewis County Elections says ballots were mailed July 15 and should have begun arriving around July 20.

Voters who have not returned their ballots should complete and sign them, then check their ballot status through VoteWA or the county elections office before the deadline.

How to return a ballot

A mailed ballot must receive a postmark no later than August 4. Lewis County Elections says voters mailing a ballot on Election Day should ask a postal clerk to apply a round cancellation stamp to help avoid a late postmark. Ballot envelopes include prepaid postage, so a stamp is not required.

Voters may also place ballots in an official county drop box by 8 p.m. on August 4. The county’s published drop-box list does not show a location in Salkum. Residents should check the official county list or their personalized VoteWA information before traveling.

Registration and address changes

The July 27 deadline for online and mail registration or address updates has passed. Washington still allows same-day registration and address updates in person through Election Day.

For Lewis County voters, that means going to a county voting center by 8 p.m. on August 4. The Washington Secretary of State advises voters who missed the regular deadline to contact their county elections office for exact in-person instructions.

Ballots may differ by precinct

Not every Salkum voter will see the same local contests or measures. The Secretary of State says a voter’s precinct and district assignments determine which local offices, bonds, levies or other measures appear on the individual ballot.

That is why voters should rely on their own mailed ballot and personalized VoteWA guide rather than assuming that every item in Lewis County’s sample ballot applies to them. The county sample ballot is a reference document, not an individual voter’s official ballot.
