Special City Council meeting set for Friday
City officials announced a special meeting of the Mayor and City Council for 3:00 pm Friday, March 6, at the Norman F. Feldheym Central Library. Superior Court service changes begin March 9
The San Bernardino Superior Court says several service enhancements take effect Monday, March 9, including a dedicated Proposition 36 courtroom at the San Bernardino Justice Center. The court also plans to move habeas corpus hearings from San Bernardino to Rancho Cucamonga, while keeping related filings at the San Bernardino Justice Center.
In the High Desert, Victorville is slated to add a second civil courtroom, and some collaborative court calendars currently heard in Rancho Cucamonga are expected to shift to San Bernardino to better align programs.
Wind advisory raises fire-weather concerns
Forecasters are calling for strengthening winds across the region, with a wind advisory posted for parts of the High Desert, the San Gorgonio Pass, and area mountains into Thursday. Even without a formal red flag warning, officials urged residents to treat the next few days as elevated fire-danger weather.
Separately, a small wildfire dubbed the Beekley Fire was reported Wednesday morning north of Phelan in San Bernardino County; early reports indicated no evacuations at the time.
Public input requested on off-road enforcement grant
The city is seeking public feedback on an off-highway vehicle enforcement grant proposal that would support targeted patrols and equipment needs for San Bernardino Police Department efforts, including sensitive areas near the Santa Ana River.
