Hazardous Materials Incident at San Mateo Business

On February 4, 2026, a hazardous materials incident occurred at a massage and skincare business located at 15 W. 25th Street, just west of El Camino Real. The San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department responded to reports of an individual experiencing difficulty breathing after exposure to an unknown substance. The affected person was transported to a hospital for further evaluation. The fire department’s hazmat team secured the area, and 25th Avenue was temporarily closed between El Camino Real and Hacienda Street. Authorities are working to identify the substance involved and ensure the building’s safety for occupancy. No other injuries were reported.
