Santa Fe Activates ‘Code Blue’ Alert Amid Winter Storm
Santa Fe, NM — January 30, 2026 — In response to an impending winter storm, Santa Fe has activated its ‘Code Blue’ emergency protocols to protect vulnerable residents.
Code Blue Alert Issued
Santa Fe has initiated its ‘Code Blue’ emergency protocols in anticipation of a major winter storm. The alert is in effect from Friday through Sunday nights, opening a 60-bed emergency overnight shelter at Warehouse 21. Managed by The Life Link, the shelter operates from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., providing meals from 5 to 7 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the area, effective from 11 a.m. on Thursday. City officials will reassess the situation over the weekend to determine if the ‘Code Blue’ needs to be extended. Additionally, the city’s Complete Streets Division has crews scheduled 24 hours a day to plow streets, and the fire and police departments are on heightened alert. Small Business Quarterly Meeting
The City of Santa Fe’s Office of Economic Development hosted the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Working Group Quarterly Meeting on January 29. The event aimed to share business sentiment, discuss policy considerations, and connect local businesses with city programs and resources. The meeting took place at the New Mexico Innovation Hub – Benildus Hall, located at 1055 Midtown Calle Central, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Upcoming Exhibition at El Zaguán
The Historic Santa Fe Foundation has announced its 2026 exhibition schedule at the Gallery at El Zaguán, located at 545 Canyon Road, Apt 2, Santa Fe, NM 87501. The upcoming exhibition features artist Jerry Wellman, titled ‘Navigators: On the Edges of Becomings.’ The artist reception is scheduled for January 16, and the exhibition will be on view through February 14, 2026. An artist talk is planned for Saturday, January 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. The gallery offers a platform for artists to showcase their work and engage with the community.
Cold Weather Advisory Extended
A cold weather advisory remains in effect for southeast New Mexico, including the Santa Fe area, until 8 a.m. on January 28. The advisory warns of very cold wind chills ranging from zero to minus 5 degrees. Residents are advised to use caution while traveling outside and to wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves. The National Weather Service has issued this advisory to ensure public safety during the extreme cold temperatures.
