Snow Moves Out, Parade Plans and Sunshine Ahead in Colorado Springs
It has been a classic early March mix across Colorado Springs, with winter weather, spring sunshine and community events all sharing the spotlight.
Snowy Start to the Weekend
A fast-moving storm swept through southern Colorado on Friday, bringing several inches of snow to parts of the region and slick conditions along Interstate 25 and over Monument Hill. In Colorado Springs, totals generally ranged from about 1 to 3 inches.
School districts in nearby mountain communities closed or delayed, and some flights at the Colorado Springs Airport experienced delays. Forecasters said the heaviest snow fell Friday morning, with improving conditions by late afternoon.
Sunshine Returns Saturday
By Saturday, skies cleared and temperatures rebounded. Highs are expected in the 40s and 50s along the I-25 corridor, with even warmer readings east of the city. Sunday looks milder still, with temperatures climbing into the 60s and possibly low 70s under sunny skies.
The dry stretch is expected to continue into early next week, though another cold front could bring cooler air by midweek.
St. Patrick’s Festivities Kick Off
Downtown is also gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns March 14, but festivities begin this weekend with the hunt for ‘Lenny the Leprechaun’ on Saturday.
Organizers say the parade remains one of the city’s largest annual celebrations, drawing families and visitors to the heart of downtown.
Polar Plunge and Community Events
At Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, the 2026 Colorado Springs Polar Plunge and 5K takes place Saturday morning. Runners hit the course first, followed by the icy plunge, with a post-event gathering planned at a local brewery.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum is hosting special activities for Paralympic Day, including athlete meet-and-greets and family-friendly demonstrations.
From snow boots to sunglasses, it is a weekend that captures Colorado’s unpredictable charm.
