South Fulton Drivers See Gas Ease as Diesel Climbs Above $5.30
Atlanta-area regular gasoline prices eased while diesel moved higher in AAAโs August 5, 2026, price check, giving South Fulton drivers a split fuel-market update. The Atlanta metro average was $3.8916 per gallon for regular gas and $5.3696 for diesel.
Those figures are regional benchmarks, not South Fulton-only station averages. Individual pumps can be higher or lower depending on location, competition, fuel grade and operating costs.
Regular gas is down from yesterday and last week
AAA listed regular gasoline at about 1.2 cents below the previous dayโs $3.9031 average. The metro average was also about 5.2 cents lower than the $3.9431 reported one week earlier.
Compared with the last South Fulton fuel-price update on July 31, when regular gas was reported at $3.929, the current Atlanta metro benchmark is lower by roughly 3.7 cents per gallon.
For a driver filling a 15-gallon tank, that difference represents about 56 cents compared with the July 31 benchmark. The savings are modest, but they may be noticeable for households making several trips each week or preparing for weekend travel.
Diesel is moving in the opposite direction
Diesel reached $5.3696 per gallon in AAAโs August 5 Atlanta metro average, remaining above $5.30. The price was about 0.5 cents higher than the previous dayโs $5.3642 and roughly 8.6 cents higher than the $5.2832 average from a week earlier.
The increase is also visible against the last South Fulton update, which listed diesel at $5.282 on July 31. The latest metro benchmark is approximately 8.8 cents higher than that previous figure.
That split matters beyond people filling personal vehicles. Gasoline users may see a small amount of relief, while diesel-dependent operations face higher fuel costs. Delivery drivers, contractors, landscapers, construction crews, fleet operators and service businesses may need to account for the added cost in route planning or operating budgets.
Restaurants and other businesses that rely on deliveries could also feel indirect pressure if transportation costs remain elevated. For weekend travelers, the effect will depend on whether the vehicle uses gasoline or diesel and on the price posted at the specific station being used.
South Fulton pump prices may vary
AAAโs number describes the Atlanta metro market rather than every station in South Fulton. The Energy Information Administration provides broader gasoline and diesel market data, while Atlanta-area reporting has noted that prices can vary significantly from one station to another.
Drivers should compare nearby stations before filling up, especially when buying diesel. Share the highest and lowest pump prices you are seeing around South Fulton so neighbors can track how local prices compare with the metro benchmark.
