South Fulton has begun construction of a new police headquarters that the city says will cost $55.8 million and cover 75,000 square feet at 7494 Old National Highway.
The city held a groundbreaking ceremony for the South Fulton Police Department headquarters on May 5, 2026. The project is part of an approximately $113 million public-safety investment, but the city identifies the headquarters itself as the $55.8 million project.
The planned facility is intended to bring several police operations into one location, including administration, patrol, investigations, special operations and evidence processing.
A centralized police facility
South Fulton describes the headquarters as a major city capital project designed to consolidate police functions. Instead of treating administrative work, operational activity, investigations and evidence processing as separate functions, the planned building is designed to house them together.
The headquarters also is planned to include specialized spaces for police training and operations. Those features include a training center, an indoor pistol range, a real-time crime center and a detention holding facility.
Improved interview and investigation areas are also part of the design. The city’s description connects those spaces to the department’s investigative and evidence-processing work, though the announcement does not provide additional operating details for each area.
Part of a broader public-safety commitment
The headquarters is one piece of the city’s larger public-safety investment, which South Fulton places at roughly $113 million. That broader figure should not be read as the cost of the headquarters alone. The city lists the facility’s project cost separately at $55.8 million.
