Starting Oct. 27, nonemergency police and fire calls for incidents within Spokane city limits are scheduled to move from Crime Check to 311. Through Oct. 26, callers should use Crime Check at 509-456-2233. Emergencies remain 911 calls; the city says an emergency call received through 311 will be transferred to 911.
Which number should you use? The incident locationโnot the callerโs residenceโdetermines the route. Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, Cheney, Deer Park, Fairfield, Latah, Liberty Lake, Medical Lake, Millwood, Rockford, Spangle, Waverly and unincorporated Spokane County remain with Crime Check for nonemergency calls.
The Oct. 27 switch does not change emergency call-taking. Under a separate phased agreement, city fire dispatch is planned to begin Jan. 1, 2027, and Spokane is scheduled to become the primary public safety answering point in January 2028.
