Tragic Drowning at Local Athletic Club
On February 3, 2026, a 4-year-old girl from Sterling Heights drowned at the Deer Lake Athletic Club in Independence Township. The child was left unattended in the swimming pool while two adults were in the club’s bar and restaurant area. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The incident is under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
