While New Jersey avoided the worst snowfall totals seen farther north, residents in Hudson County reported downed branches and travel delays through the weekend.

City officials urged caution in parks and along waterfront areas as cleanup crews worked to clear debris. Commuters also felt ripple effects from airport delays and regional rail slowdowns tied to the storm system.

Transit Pressure Adds to Commute Frustrations

The weather arrived at a time when North Jersey commuters are already navigating rail adjustments and heavier-than-usual passenger loads into Hoboken and Manhattan. Riders in Jersey City reported crowded platforms and longer-than-normal trip times during peak hours.

Mayor Continues Budget Town Hall Push

Mayor James Solomon, who took office on January 15, 2026, is continuing a series of community meetings focused on the city’s 2026 budget priorities. A town hall held Monday evening drew residents from multiple wards to weigh in on neighborhood investments, public safety and open space funding.

City officials say additional meetings are planned in the coming weeks as the administration works to finalize spending plans this spring.
