Storms Impact SEC Tournament, Power Crews on Alert

Heavy rain rolled into downtown Wednesday as the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament tipped off, sending thousands of fans into Bridgestone Arena under umbrellas and rain jackets. Organizers said severe-weather plans were activated and coordinated with local emergency officials to keep fans safe.

At the same time, Nashville Electric Service warned customers about the potential for widespread outages as strong storms move through Middle Tennessee. Crews are on standby, and residents are being urged to prepare for possible downed trees and power lines.

I-24 Closure Snarls Regional Traffic

An emergency situation in Rutherford County shut down stretches of Interstate 24 on Wednesday, affecting traffic between Nashville and surrounding communities. Authorities closed portions of the interstate for several hours, rerouting drivers through alternate highways.

The closure caused delays for commuters and impacted school dismissal schedules in neighboring areas. Motorists heading into Nashville experienced significant backups during peak travel times.

New Transit Center Planned for Donelson

WeGo Public Transit announced plans to build a new transit center in Donelson, part of the city’s broader Choose How You Move initiative. The project is expected to expand bus service and improve connections, including more frequent trips along Lebanon Pike.

Public meetings are scheduled later this month to gather community input on the proposed site and design.

Titans Stadium Nears Final Stretch

The Tennessee Titans say the new Nissan Stadium is now less than a year from completion. Construction crews are finishing exterior elements, installing glass panels and testing elevators and escalators inside the facility.

Team officials report major progress on roofing, masonry and interior buildouts as the project moves toward its anticipated 2027 debut season.
