City Council Advances City Manager Search
The Tacoma City Council voted Monday night to enter negotiations with Hyun Kim for the role of city manager, a key leadership position that oversees daily operations and implements council priorities.
The decision follows a national search and comes as the city continues to focus on public safety, housing stability and economic recovery. If negotiations are successful, Kim would take on the top administrative role at City Hall, working alongside Mayor Anders Ibsen and council members to guide policy into action.
Firefighter Hurt in North Tacoma House Fire
A Tacoma firefighter suffered minor injuries Saturday morning while responding to a house fire on North Fife Street, just east of the University of Puget Sound.
Crews arrived around 11:30 a.m. to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the home, with the fire spreading toward a backyard shed. Additional units were called in to protect neighboring properties. No residents were inside at the time. The injured firefighter was treated for minor injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
City Issues New Request for Bids
The City of Tacoma has also posted a new request for bids, identified as PW26-0049F, with submissions due by 11 a.m. on March 31. The bid opening will take place publicly at Tacoma Public Utilities.
City bid postings often cover infrastructure upgrades, utility work and other public improvement projects. Contractors interested in working on upcoming city projects are encouraged to review the specifications and deadlines carefully.
