Woman critically hurt in pre-dawn Tacoma shooting
Tacoma police responded around 4:10 a.m. Tuesday to reports of gunfire in the 8800 block of South D Street, near Fern Hill Park. Officers found a woman injured inside a home; she was reported alert when police arrived but listed in critical condition.
Investigators recovered 57 shell casings at the scene and said the home was occupied at the time. Police have not released a suspect description or a possible motive, and the case remains under investigation.
Four stabbed to death near Tacoma; suspect shot by deputy
In a separate, major Pierce County case, deputies say a man stabbed four people to death in a cul-de-sac on the Key Peninsula, northwest of Tacoma, before being shot by a responding deputy. Authorities said deputies had initially been called about a possible violation of a no-contact order, then received updated reports of an active stabbing.
All five people involved are dead, and investigators are working to confirm identities and the relationships between the suspect and the victims.
